    NORWICH, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to NEC-foe Wagner, 11-7 in the NEC Championship elimination game Friday afternoon at Dodd Stadium. With the loss, the Pioneers end their season with a 19-34-1 record on the year, while the Seahawks improved to with a 19-31-1 on the season. Ryan LaMay got the start and took the loss after giving up five earned runs on six hits and struck out one in 2.1 innings of work. Anthony Porrino led the SHU offense going 3-for-5 with two RBI’s, while Austin Markmann, Jake Frasca, Justin Jordan and Justin Levito recorded an RBI apiece.

With the loss, The fall to 19-33-1 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to with a 39-18 on the season. John Cerretani got the start and took the loss after giving up one earned run on five hits and struck out two in 4.2 innings of work. Justin Levito, Justin Jordan and Alex Perry recorded a hit apiece in the loss.

The Pioneers finished in ninth-place in the team standings, tallying seven points. Following the championship, the All-MAAC teams were announced. The Pioneers close the regular season with a 19-32-1 record on the year and an 11-13 record in NEC-play, while the Bulldogs finish with a 38-18 on the season and 19-5 in conference play. Matt Aufiero got the start and took the loss after giving up four runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work. Justin Jordan went 2-for-4 with a double, while Alex Perry went 1-for-4 with a double.

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University baseball team defeated NEC-foe Bryant, 3-2 in extra innings at home Friday afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers have clinched a spot in the NEC Tournament for the 10th time in 11 years. The Pioneers moved to 19-31-1 on the year and 11-12 in NEC-play, while the Bulldogs fell to 37-18 on the season and 18-5 in conference play. John Cerretani earned the win after giving up one hit and striking out two in 3.1 innings of shutout relief. Justin Levito went 1-for-1 with an RBI pinch-hit single to walk it off for the Pioneers.

    FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart rowing team had 16 student-athletes named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers 16 members was tied for the second-most with Fairfield, trailing Manhattan’s conference-high 19 honorees. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Part of the celebration included 63 student-athletes, more than 40 percent of the graduating class, being inducted into the C. Donald Cook Scholar Athlete Society for posting cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or better.
