Equestrian Wraps Up Day Two of Competition at the IHSA National Championships

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Sacred Heart University Equestrian team completed day two of competition at the IHSA National Championships this afternoon. The Pioneers currently are in 12th place tallying a total of 9.5 points in the team competition so far. SHU will return to it's shows tomorrow morning beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Sophomore Lea Mascola would score a 74 in the Team Intermediate Fences as she took a 9th place ribbon to add one point to the Pioneers overall team score. Meanwhile, sophomore Rebecca Dion would place 9th in the Team Walk Trot to add another point to the Pioneers team total. In the final team event of the day, junior Valerie Stein would take 8th place in the Team Walk Trot Canter to give the Pioneers a pair of points at the end of day two

On the individual front, senior Cariann Johnson placed seventh in the Cacchione Cup after her events in Jumping and in Flat shows. She is just the fourth SHU rider in program histroy to reach that milestone.
