Baseball Falls to Stetson, 8-5 on the Road

DeLand, FL. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to Stetson 8-5 on the road Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Pioneers dropped to 3-7, while Stetson improved to 5-7.

Justin Jordan got the start and took the loss for the Pioneers, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out two in 4.2 innings of work. Austin Markmann and Alex Perry drove in a run apiece.

NOTES (Stetson 8, SHU 5):

  • Justin Jordan got the start and took the loss for the Pioneers, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out two in 4.2 innings of work

  • Austin Markmann, Isiah Daubon, Anthony Porrino and Alex Perry recorded two hits apiece

  • Jake Frasca went 1-for-3

  • Alex Perry and Markmann drove in a run apiece

  • SHU broke the scoreless tie in the fourth after Perry drilled a two-out RBI single to right

  • Stetson responded by scoring four runs in the next two innings

  • With runners on the corners, Markmann served an RBI single to right to cut the SHU deficit to 4-2

  • Two batters later, Porrino lined out but Stephen Thibault scored on a throwing error

  • Stetson rallied for a combined four runs in the seventh and eighth innings

  • SHU was able to score two runs in the ninth inning, but ultimately fell 8-5

The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday Mar. 8, when SHU travels to take on South Alabama on at 6:30 p.m.
