Baseball Drops Home Contest vs. Fordham, 8-2

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to Fordham at home, 8-2 Wednesday afternoon at Veteran's Memorial Park. With the loss, the Pioneers drop to 6-16 on the season, while Fordham improves to 15-10 on the season.

Thomas Pinto got the start and took the loss after one unearned in two innings of work. Justin Jordan and Noah Centeno led the SHU offense, driving in a run apiece.

NOTES (Fordham 8, SHU 2):

  • Thomas Pinto got the start and took the loss after one unearned in two innings of work

  • Justin Jordan went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the loss

  • Noah Centeno went 1-for-3 with an RBI single

  • Isiah Daubon, Danny Glendon and Justin Levito each tallied a hit apiece

  • Fordham got on the board first after tallying a run in the second, third and fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead

  • The Pioneers got on the board after Centeno drove in a run on an infield single to cut the SHU deficit to 3-1 in the fourth

  • The Rams responded with two runs in the fifth to push its lead to 5-1 over the Pioneers

  • SHU tallied a run in the fifth after Jordan drove in a run on an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-2

  • The Rams recorded three runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 8-2

The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday Mar. 29, when SHU travels to take on Fairleigh Dickinson at 3 p.m.
