Baseball Earns Sixth NEC Win in 4-1 Win Over Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team picked up its sixth NEC win of the season after defeating Central Connecticut, 4-1 on the road Friday afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 12-19 on the year and 6-4 in the NEC, while CCSU falls to 12-12 and 4-4 in the NEC on the season.

Ryan LaMay got the start and got the win after giving up four hits and striking out five in 7.2 shutout innings of work. Anthony Porrino, Jake Frasca, Danny Glendon and Isiah Daubon each drove in a run apiece to lead the SHU offense.

  • Ryan LaMay got the start and got the win after giving up four hits and striking out five in 7.2 shutout innings of work

  • Jake Frasca earned his third save of the season after closing the door in the ninth

  • Anthony Porrino led the SHU offense with two doubles and an RBI

  • Jake Frasca, Danny Glendon and Isiah Daubon each drove in a run apiece

  • The Pioneers got on the board first after Porrino drilled an RBI double to the wall to score Elijah Brown

  • Frasca put SHU up 2-0 in the first inning with an RBI single to score Porrino

  • Daubon gave SHU a 3-0 lead in the fifth after his RBI single scored Bobby Garbuio

  • Glendon added to the lead with an RBI sacrifice-fly to drive in Porrino, giving SHU a 4-0 lead through five innings

  • The Blue Devils were able to tally a run in the ninth, but the Pioneers held on for the 4-1 win
