Glendon Drives in Four in Baseball's 13-10 Win Over Yale

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team defeated in-state foe Yale, 13-10 Wednesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 14-23 on the year, while the Bulldogs drop to 11-22.

Nick Rubino earned the win after giving up two runs on four hits and striking out one in 2.1 innings of relief. The Pioneers had nine different players drive in a run, with Danny Glendon's four RBI's leading the way.

  • Nick Rubino earned the first collegiate win of his career after giving up two runs on four hits and striking out one in 2.1 innings of relief

  • Anthony Porrino earned his first career save after shutting down the Bulldogs for the final four outs of the contest

  • Danny Glendon led the offense, going 2-for-5 with four RBI's and a walk

  • Jake Frasca went 5-for-6 with an RBI and three runs scored

  • Stephen Thibault, Isiah Daubon, Justin Levito, Alex Perry, Steven Schoen, Justin Jordan and Bobby Garbuio drove in a run apiece

  • The Bulldogs got on the board first after posting three runs in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead

  • Frasca put the Pioneers on the board with an RBI single in the first to cut the deficit to 3-1

  • SHU tied the contest after Glendon delivered a two-run double in the first to bring the score to 3-3

  • Levito immediately followed with an RBI single to put SHU ahead 4-3 in the first inning

  • With the bases loaded, Garbuio got hit by a pitch to score a run, giving SHU a 5-3 lead

  • Daubon followed with an RBI sacrifice-fly to push the SHU lead to 6-3

  • Thibault delivered an RBI single immediately after to give SHU a 7-3 lead

  • Yale responded with two runs in the second to trim the SHU lead to 7-5

  • Schoen put SHU ahead 8-5 with an RBI single in the second inning

  • Jordan dropped down a sacrifice bunt to score Glendon from third, giving the Pioneers a 9-5 lead

  • SHU took a 10-5 lead after Perry delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the second

  • SHU pushed its lead to 12-5 in the third after a run scored on a fielder's choice by Glendon, followed by a second run on a Yale throwing error

  • Yale responded with two runs of its own to cut the SHU lead to 12-7

  • Glendon gave SHU a 13-7 lead with an RBI single in the fourth

  • Trailing 13-8, Yale pushed a run across the board in the seventh and eighth to cut the SHU lead to 13-10
