Frasca Drives in Two in Baseball's 8-6 Loss vs. Fairleigh Dickinson

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to NEC-foe Fairleigh Dickinson, 8-6 at home Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 16-26 on the year and 8-8 in NEC-play, while the Knights improve to 13-30-1 and 7-9 in the NEC.

Michael Attonito took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits and striking out four in four innings of relief. Jake Frasca led the SHU offense, going 2-for-5 with two RBI's.

NOTES (FDU 8, SHU 6):

  • Matt Aufiero took the no-decision after giving up three earned runs on six hits

  • Michael Attonito took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits and striking out four in four innings of relief

  • Jake Frasca led the SHU offense, going 2-for-5 with two RBI's

  • Elijah Brown went 1-for-4 with and RBI double

  • Danny Glendon drove in a run as well in the loss

  • The Knights struck first after plating a run in the first and three in the third inning to hold a 4-0 lead

  • The Pioneers cut the deficit to 4-2 after Frasca drilled a two-run double down the right field line in the third inning

  • SHU cut the deficit to 4-3 after Brown delivered an RBI double to right in the fifth

  • Glendon immediately followed with a sac-fly to left to score Stephen Thibault, followed by a throwing error from FDU to allow Brown to score to give SHU a 5-4 lead

  • The Knights responded with a run in the sixth to tie the contest at 5-5

  • FDU took a 6-5 with a run in the seventh

  • The Knights added two runs in the ninth to take an 8-5 lead

  • With the bases loaded in the ninth, Frasca grounded out to score Alex Perry from third to cut the deficit to 8-6

The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, May 4, when the Pioneers play host to Fairleigh Dickinson at 12:00 p.m.
