FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University baseball freshman Justin Jordan was named NEC Baseball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon. It is the fourth time this season that Jordan has earned the weekly award.
Jordan has recorded multiple hits during eight of his last 10 games. He accounted for an RBI and scored at least one run in each of the Pioneers' three conference contests last week. After finishing 0-for-3 with a walk in a mid-week tie against Hofstra, Jordan went 7-for-14 the rest of the way. He totaled seven singles, three RBI and four runs during the three-game road trip to the Mount.
Jordan singled in the third and fifth innings of the NEC series opener with the latter base knock breaking a 1-1 tie in the Pioneers' eventual 7-4 victory. He notched an RBI single as part of another two-hit performance in the middle game at Mount. Jordan went 3-for-5 with a RBI hit and two runs scored in the rubber game, a 9-4 win for SHU.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Thursday, May 16, when SHU plays host to Bryant at 3 p.m.
