Anosike Named NEC Player Of The Week

Sacred Heart University junior E.J. Anosike was named the Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. The forward averaged a double-double in leading the Pioneers to a 3-1 week. Sophomores Koreem Ozier and Cameron Parker were also recognized as NEC Prime Performers.

Anosike averaged 15.5 points and 10.3 rebounds a contest as the Pioneers posted wins over Brown, Presbyterian and Quinnipiac. He opened the week with a 16-point, 13-rebounds double-double against Brown. In that game, Anosike shot 7-10 from the field. Anosike came within a rebound of a second double-double against Presbyterian, scoring 14, on 6-9 shooting, and collecting nine boards. He tallied 19 points and 14 boards against Albany, and then scored 13, on 6-7 shooting, versus Quinnipiac.

A native of East Orange, N.J. Anosike shot 59.5 percent from the floor, 25-42, including four three-pointers. Of his 41 total rebounds, 13 were on the offensive glass, with seven of his 13 against Brown on the offensive end of the floor. Anosike also handed out five assists, recorded five steals and blocked a shot during the four games.

Ozier was recognized for averaging 18.3 points per game, including a career-high 26 points in the win over Brown. He shot 51.1 percent from the field this week and an impressive 47.8 percent, 11-23) from behind the arc. At the line, Ozier was good on 14-16, to go along with eight assists, eight steals and 18 rebounds.

Parker recorded a double-double in the SHU win over Quinnipiac, with 16 points and a career-high 16 assists. For the week, he averaged 10.5 points and 8.2 assists per game. Parker had a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio on the week. He averaged 4.8 boards a game this week, with six in games aginst Brown, Albany and Quinnipiac.

The Pioneers, 3-4 on the season, return to action on Sunday, December 1 when they host Pine Manor as part of the Bobcats Invitational. All youth in a basketball jersey will be admitted for $1.00 and those 12 and under can participate in a postgame shootaround on Coach Bike Court. In addition, the first 100 fans at the game will receive FREE Garden Catering.
