    Sacred Heart football’s high-flying offensive tandem of fifth-year QB Logan Marchi and first-year WR Tyrese Chambers were featured this week in a pair of local outlets. A feature piece entitled ‘Marchi off to blazing start at SHU’ was written by Steve Barlow in Waterbury’s Republican-American while ‘Receiver Tyrese Chambers finds home at Sacred Heart’ was written by Doug Bonjour for the CT Post.   • Football Takes Two-Game Win Streak into NEC Opener at LIU on Saturday

    Riding an impressive two-game win streak in which the offense has put up a combined 86 points, the Sacred Heart football team heads into their Northeast Conference opener on Saturday with a meeting at the newest league member LIU. Formerly LIU Post, the institution’s athletic programs underwent an integration with LIU Brooklyn to form the LIU Sharks and enter the NCAA Div. I ranks for the first time. Kickoff from Bethpage Stadium is set for 1:00 PM.

    An award-filled week for Sacred Heart football continued on Monday as QB Logan Marchi and WR Tyrese Chambers picked up weekly honors throughout the day. These all come on the heels of the Pioneers’ 56-40 road win at Lafayette in which SHU scored its sixth-most points in a game in program history while also recording their fifth straight victory over the Leopards.

    Sacred Heart football QB Logan Marchi’s explosive effort on Saturday earned him a second straight College Sports Madness NEC Offensive Player of the Week honor, as announced on Sunday morning. Marchi tied a school record with six passing touchdowns and helped engineer a 35-point second half for SHU as the Pioneers overcome a three-point halftime deficit to defeat Lafayette 56-40 on Saturday.

    Six touchdown passes for QB Logan Marchi and 56 points for the Sacred Heart offense proved more than enough on Saturday afternoon as the Pioneers toppled Lafayette, 56-40, in an offensive shootout from Fisher Stadium. A second consecutive win and first away from home in 2019 moves SHU to 2-1 on the season and 5-1 all-time against the Leopards, who drop to 0-3 on the year in defeat.

    A week removed from a dominating 30-10 home win over Bucknell, the Pioneers prep for their second straight Patriot League opponent with a trip to Lafayette slated for Saturday, September 14 at 12:30 PM from Fisher Stadium. SHU owns an impressive 4-1 all-time mark and come in riding a four-game win streak against the Leopards having scored 73 points combined in the last two meetings.

    Sacred Heart football won a pair of Northeast Conference weekly awards following the Pioneers’ 30-10 home win over Bucknell on Saturday night. Sophomore RB Julius Chestnut was announced as the NEC’s Offensive Player of the Week while first-year WR Tyrese Chambers earned Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

    Sacred Heart fifth-year QB Logan Marchi has been named the College Sports Madness Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced on Sunday afternoon. Marchi?s efforts through the air helped lead the Pioneers to a 30-10 home win over Bucknell on Saturday night in front of a record crowd (4,187) for a SHU home opener.

    Playing in front of a record-breaking crowd of 4,187, the most Sacred Heart football has ever drawn for a home opener, the Pioneers dominated the visiting Bucknell Bison to the tone of a 30-10 decision on Saturday night from Campus Field. Sacred Heart wins its eight consecutive home opener under head coach Mark Nofri and bounce back in a big way following a season-opening defeat at Maine to even their record at 1-1. Bucknell drops to 0-2 with the loss.

    Following a tough loss to then-No. 7 ranked Maine, the Sacred Heart football team looks to bounce back with the Pioneers’ 2019 home opener on Saturday night from Campus Field against Bucknell. SHU hopes to prolong an extended string of success in home openers as the Pioneers have won their last seven consecutive home openers, all of which have come since Head Coach Mark Nofri took the reins of the program in 2012. Kickoff is set for 6 PM.
  • Football Drops Season Opener at No. 7 Maine, 42-14

    The Sacred Heart football team struggled at No. 7 nationally-ranked Maine on Friday night to open the 2019 season, allowing 582 yards on the defensive side in a 42-14 defeat from Alfond Stadium. The Pioneers totaled 207 yards of offense, including just 65 through the first half, as the reigning CAA Champion and FCS national semifinalist Black Bears handled the visitors in SHU’s first contest of the season.

    The Sacred Heart football coaching staff has announced Pioneer team captains for the 2019 campaign. The captains for the season are fifth-year running back Jordan Meachum, fifth-year safety Noah Provenzano, senior cornerback Shawn Ramcheran, senior defensive end Chris Agyemang and senior center Josh Sokol.

    The Sacred Heart football team has been picked second in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Wednesday morning at the fifth annual NEC Social Media Day at Metlife Stadium. In addition, Pioneer senior defensive end Chris Agyemang and fifth-year running back Jordan Meachum were both selected to the 2019 Preseason All-NEC Team.
  • 2019 Football Home Game Times Announced, Single-Game Tickets Now Available

    The official game times for Sacred Heart football’s 2019 home slate have been announced while single-game tickets for the 2019 season are now on sale. The Pioneers’ are set to host five games in the 2019 season at Campus Field, including a 6 PM kickoff for the home opener on Sept. 7 against Bucknell.
  • Football Releases 2019 Schedule

    Sacred Heart University head football coach Mark Nofri announced the 2019 schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by five games played on Campus Field. The defending NEC Co-Champion Pioneers’ 2019 slate features 12 contests, the most regular season games SHU has played since the 2013 campaign, and a spotlight Friday night matchup at 2018 FCS Semifinalist Maine to kickoff the season on August 30. All home game start times and promotions will be announced at a later date.
