Bridgeport, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey Team fell to #15 Northeastern tonight by a final score of 5-0. The team will return to action in a week when they host top ten team Providence on Saturday Oct. 20 at 7:05 p.m.
The game would be mostly controlled by the Huskies as they would take an early lead at 2:36 as Jordan Harris would score a goal courtesy of assists by Lincoln Griffin and John Picking. Northeastern would outshoot the Pioneers 8-5 in the first period as it would be a defensive battle throughout the first period.
Northeastern would then tack on two more goals in the second period the first coming early at 1:31 courtesy of Liam Pecararo off an assist by Brandon Hawkins. Then the second came on the power play as Tyler Madden found the back of the net to put the Huskies ahead 3-0 at the end of two.
Last year's leading goal scorer for the Pioneers Vito Bavaro led the team in shots with four. But the Pioneers would be unable to score in the game as Northeastern would add two more to the scoreboard in the third to make the final score of the game 5-0.
