FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey teams looks to rebound from its recent loss to AIC as the Pioneers host Air Force for a two game set. The first game will be played at Webster Bank Arena with a 2:05p.m. puck drop while the second game on Sunday will be played at Ingalls Rink on the campus of Yale University. Puck-drop from Sunday is set for 4:05 p.m.

Last Time Out... The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team fell in a tight battle to AIC by a final score of 2-1. Junior Vito Bavaro scored the lone goal for the Pioneers in the loss while SHU was on the power-play. Assists were granted to sophomore Matt Tugnutt and redshirt junior Jason Cotton.
Scouting The Falcons... Senior Matt Koch leads the team with 18 points. Koch ranks fourth in the league in points by a defenseman in all games. Evan Feno and Kyle Haak are tied for the team lead with nine goals. Haak had a seven-game point streak snapped in the second game against Army. He has 10 points in his last eight games. Kieran Durgan is second in the league and tied for third in the nation in goals by a freshman (8). Billy Christopoulos ranks second in the league in both saves percentage (.918) and GAA (2.24). Air Force ranks second in the nation in penalty kill at 88.9 percent.
Last Meeting... Matt Tugnutt's goal at 2:54 of overtime lifted Sacred Heart to a 2-1 win over Air Force, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018. In the first two minutes of the opening period, SHU went on the power play and took the early lead as Marc Johnstone scored on the back door at 1:47. The Falcons tied the game early in the third period as Marshall Bowery scored from Erich Jaeger and Trevor Stone at 5:59. In overtime, Tugnutt's shot from a sharp angle, bottom of the right circle, was the game winner at 2:54. SHU outshot Air Force, 28-24, in the game. SHU was 1-for-3 on the power play while Air Force was 0-for-4. Brett Magnus made 23 for the Pioneers.
Kaplan Crushing Goals... Sophomore Jordan Kaplan currently is tied for second on team in goals this season with four goals. He has currently tallied a goal in two of the past three games including most recently against top ranked Yale in which he scored the teams lone goal.
Johnstone The Assist Machine... Sophomore Marc Johnstone banked in his tenth assist of the season which led to a goal by fellow sophomore Jordan Kaplan in the 3-1 loss to Yale on Saturday night. Johnstone currently leads the team in assists with 10 as well as in total points with 11 on the year.
Bavaro Banking In Goals.... Junior Vito Bavaro cashed in his fourth goal of the season against AIC on Tuesday night. He is currently tied for second on team in goals as he is just one goal behind team leaders Jason Cotton and Matt Tugnutt who each have five goals. Bavaro has scored a goal in two out of the last three games so far.
