FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team continues Atlantic Hockey play with a two-game road swing at RIT starting Friday Nov. 15. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. 

Last Time Out... The Pioneers split a two-game home-and-home against Holy Cross last week as SHU fell in the first game at Webster Bank Arena by a final score of 2-1 while prevailing in the away match the following day with a 4-2 victory. Senior Austin McIlmurray tallied two goals in the win including his fifth power-play goal of the season. Senior Vito Bavaro's clutch third period goal to take a 4-0 lead prevented the Crusaders from a comeback even as they tallied two goals in the final period to result in the SHU 4-2 victory. 

Last Meeting... The Pioneers fell to the Tigers in game three of the Atlantic Hockey quarterfinals at Webster Bank Arena on March, 15, 2019 by a final score of 3-1. Senior Jason Cotton scored the lone goal in the first period but the team was unable to comeback after RIT scored a pair of goals in the third to prevail with the 3-1 win and advance to the Atlantic Hockey Semi-finals. 

Scouting The Tigers... RIT is coming off a pair of games at Atlantic Hockey rival Niagara as they tied the first game by a final score of 2-2 and won the second 4-1. This season, RIT has a record of 7-1-2 and 4-0-2 in league play. Leading the Tigers is junior Jake Hamacher who currently has three goals, and six assists on the season for nine points while senior forward Shawn Cameron leads the team in goals with five and is second on team in points with eight. Guarding the net for RIT is junior Logan Drackett who has played in all 10 games in net and currently has a GAA of 1.69 with a save percentage of .943 and an overall record of 7-1-2. 

McIlmurray Magnificiant... Senior forward Austin McIlmurray has been a tear lately in scoring goals for the Pioneers as he has tallied at least one goal in four of the last six games he has played in for SHU. He is recently coming off a two goal performance at Holy Cross this past weekend as he aided SHU in a 4-2 victory to split the home-and-home set against the Crusaders. Five out of the six goals he has scored this season for the Pioneers have been on the power-play which leads Atlantic Hockey. 

Goals, Goals, Goals,... SHU forwards, Matt Tugnutt, Austin McIlmurray, Vito Bavaro and Jason Cotton all have tallied six goals for the Pioneers this season. The four are all currently tied for first in Atlantic Hockey in goals. Tugnutt is just three goals shy of tying his career high and with the season not even halfway over, he has a strong shot of reaching that mark. 

Tuck Terrific... First-year Braeden Tuck extended his point streak to six games with a two-point weekend for SHU in a weekend split with Holy Cross. Tuck currently leads the team, and Atlantic Hockey in assists this year with nine. He is also tied for fourth in the league in points with 10, leads the league in power-play points (7), and in freshman scoring with his 10. Tuck earned Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week on Nov. 5 and has been the leading point scorer for the freshman class this year. 

Senior Spotlights.....This years senior class that consists of Mike Lee, Jason Cotton, Austin McIlmurray and Vito Bavaro currently lead all the classes in points and goals as the seniors have generated 33 points off 18 goals and 15 assists. Out of the group Jason Cotton leads the way with six goals and four assists for 10 points. 

Pios Leading Atlantic Hockey.... Heading into this weekend, the Pioneers claim the top spot in the Atlantic Hockey stat sheets as SHU players lead in 13 categories in the league including goals scored, assists, scoring offense, freshman scoring, defensemen scoring, game-winning goals, short-handed goals, short-handed points, power-play goals and power-play points.
