Men's Ice Hockey Success Continues With Benson Named Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week

WALTHAM, MA. – Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey sophomore goalie Josh Benson was named Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week for his play in the past three games this past week. The team will return to action in the on Saturday, Dec. 28 when the Pioneers host Bentley at Webster Bank Arena.

Benson tallied three win this past week as he recorded a total of 78 saves in the three games played. In those three games, he tallied his third shutout of the in front of the net this season. The sophomore allowed a total of just four goals on 82 shots faced. In the three games as well he recorded a GAA of 1.33 and dropped his overall season goals against average to just 2.26 which sits sixth in Atlantic Hockey. He currently ranks fourth in the league in save percentage with an impressive .920. This is the first time this season Benson has been named goalie of the week.

The Pioneers have been hot recently winning eight of their last nine games and are currently on a five game winning streak. The team was also recently ranked in the top 20 by USCHO for the first time in program history on Monday.
