SHU ups their win streak to four straight and move to 5-3 (1-0 NEC) on the season while the Colonials drop to 1-6 (0-1 NEC) in 2019.

    Sacred Heart senior midfielder Max Tuttle became the fourth SHU men’s lacrosse player and the first-ever first round pick in program history to be drafted in the Major League Lacrosse Draft, held on Saturday night. Tuttle went sixth overall to the reigning MLL Champion Denver Outlaws in the first round.

    Sacred Heart redshirt senior attack Joe Saggese became the fifth SHU men’s lacrosse player to be drafted in the Major League Lacrosse Draft, held on Saturday night from the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. Saggese went 44th overall to the 2018 MLL Runner-Up Dallas Rattlers in the fifth round.

    Sacred Heart senior defender Landon Kramer became the sixth SHU men’s lacrosse player to be drafted in the Major League Lacrosse Draft, held on Saturday night from the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. Kramer went 62nd overall to the 2018 MLL Runner-Up Dallas Rattlers in the seventh round.

    Trailing 10-5 at the half, the Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team rallied and used a key 3-0 spurt over a 46 second span late in the fourth quarter to score a 17-16 come-from-behind victory over Providence on Saturday afternoon from Chapey Field. The much-needed victory snaps a two-game losing skid as the Pioneers move to 2-3 on the season while the Friars drop to 2-3 in 2019.
  • Saturday's Men's Lacrosse's Contest at Providence Moved to 3 PM

    The start time for Saturday's men's lacrosse game between the Sacred Heart Pioneers and the Providence Friars has been moved from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The change is being made in an effort to avoid poor weather that is expected to move through the area late tonight and into the early afternoon tomorrow.

  • Fairfield Comes-From-Behind to Defeat Men’s Lacrosse, 12-11

    A two-goal lead with just over 10 minutes remaining didn’t hold up as the Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team saw Fairfield go on a 4-0 fourth quarter run to come away with a 12-11 victory from Campus Field on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers’ second straight loss drops SHU’s record to 1-3 on the season while the Stags jump to 1-1 in 2019. In the first meeting between the two crosstown foes since 2005, the result came down to the final seconds as the Pioneers had the ball with a chance to tie with under a minute on the clock but couldn’t find the back of the net as the Stag bench went into hysterics following the final horn.

    Playing at home for the first time in 2019, the Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team suffered a 16-11 loss at the hands of Boston University on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers drop to 1-2 on the season with the loss while the Terriers jump to 3-1.
  • Tuttle Hits 100-Goal Milestone, Men’s Lacrosse Offense Explodes in 18-11 Win over Furman

    On a day where Max Tuttle became the fourth player in SHU’s Division I history (since 2000) to reach the 100-career goal milestone, the Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team responded in-kind with an offensive explosion to push past Furman, 18-11, from Radnor High School on Saturday morning. The Pioneers even their record at 1-1 on the season and improve to 3-0 all-time against Furman while the Paladins drop to 0-3 in 2019.

Redshirt senior attack Joe Saggese led the way in defeat, matching his career-high with seven points on five goals and two assists.

    The Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team was picked to finish third in the Northeast Conference Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The Pioneers are coming off a successful 2018 campaign that saw SHU go 7-8 overall and 3-3 in NEC play, clinching a spot in the NEC Tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the league’s founding in 2010 and fourth time overall. The seven-win season is tied for the third-most wins for the Pioneers since SHU joined the Division I ranks in 2000.
