Joseph Cipoletti Earns USILA Scholar All-America Honors

2019 USILA/WARRIOR & NEW BALANCE SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICANS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Recent Sacred Heart men's lacrosse graduate Joseph Cipoletti was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) / Warrior and New Balance Division I Scholar All-American.

A valued long stick midfielder, Cipoletti's distinction marks the second straight season the Pioneers have garnered a Scholar All-American as 2018 graduate Matt Caracappa earned the laurel last season. Cipoletti is one of six NEC players to earn Scholar All-American honors, joining two players from Robert Morris and one each from Bryant, Hobart and Mount St. Mary's.

Cipoletti graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a cumulative grade point average of 3.202. He was also named to the NEC Spring Honor Roll three times.

In addition to the academic honors, Cipoletti received All-NEC First Team honors in 2019, capping his career with one of the most-impressive statistical seasons from a defender in program history. Cipoletti racked up a team-leading 43 caused turnovers and 65 ground balls to go along with three points (one goal, two assists) in 13 games (all starts). His 43 caused turnovers represents a single-season program record while he finished second all-time at SHU with 74 caused turnovers.

The three-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week finished the 2019 campaign as the nation's leader in caused turnovers per game (3.31) as well as 36th nationally in ground balls per game (5.00).
