FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer freshman Segundo Navarro was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 3.
Navarro scored his first collegiate goal in a 2-1 win over MAAC opponent Manhattan on Monday. In the 37th minute, teammate Oscar Curras sent a cross into the box that Navarro one-touched it into the back of the net after beating his defender. The win was the first of the year for the Pioneers.
Senior Renan Raposo was also named as one of the NEC's Prime Performers of the week. Raposo scored the second goal in the Manhattan game to seal the win for the Pioneers at 39:33.
The team returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph's. Game-time is set for 7:00 p.m.
