Arribas Scores Goal to Tie Game in First Half While Siena Scores Game Winner in Overtime

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team fell to Siena this afternoon in an overtime nail bitter 2-1. The team returns to action on Wednesday Sept. 19 when they host Seton Hall. Game-time is set for 3:00 p.m. 

The first half would begin with a pair of quick shots by CJ Weinstein and Segundo Navarro but the shots would either be saved or high. SHU would dominate the first half in shots as they outshot the Saints 13-5 in the first half. A header by Oscar Curras at 12:21 would go just wide to keep the game scoreless. Neither SHU or Siena would be able to score a goal in the first half to keep the score 0-0 at the closing of the first half. 

After the Pioneers would take two quick shots early that just missed the goal in the second half courtesy of Oscar Curras and Riley Sullivan, Siena would fire back with two shots at goalie Robert Strain but Strain would be able to make the save at 54:43 keeping the game at 0-0. It wouldn't be until 65:07 when Siena's Matt Crisafulli would find the back the net to score the opening points of the match and giving the Saints a 1-0 lead. Then just three minutes later, SHU would counter the Siena goal as Alejandro Arribas would score his third goal of the season off a turnover to tie the game up at 1-1 at 68:07. Neither team would be able to score for the remainder of the half to send the game into overtime. 

After SHU would start the overtime period with two shots courtesy of Elias Uyar and Oscar Curras, Siena would answer with the game winning goal at 97:18 courtesy of Kent Mohlar to give the Saints the 2-1 victory.
