EMMITSBURG, Md.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team earned its first Northeast Conference victory over Mount Saint Mary's in a game winning goal in overtime by Elias Uyar to earn the Pioneers the 2-1 win. The team returns to action Tuesday, October 9 when they travel to face UCONN. Game-time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Mount Saint Mary's would get on the board first off a goal by Borris Nana Tonzi at 25:01 to put the Mount ahead 1-0. SHU would be able to attempt seven shots in the first half but all the shots would either be saved or go wide. Riley Sullivan would attempt the final shot for SHU in the first half at 30:47 but the shot would go wide keeping the score 1-0 in favor of Mount Saint Mary's.

In the second half the Pioneers would begin to fire shots off early as five Pioneers would each fire off shots seconds between each other but the shots would either be blocked, wide or high. But the Pioneers would keep on launching shots at the Mount defense as SHU would eventually find the back of the net in the very last minute of regular courtesy of Arnaud Deniel at 89:04 to tie the game up at 1-1 and sending the game into overtime. The Pioneer defense played a strong role in the second half as well as they held Mount Saint Mary's to no shots in the second half.

There would only be one shot in overtime as it would by Elias Uyar at 97:19 which took place off a pass as the Mount tried clearing it but it went to Uyar. He volleyed it off the crossbar and found the back of net to give the Pioneers the 2-1 victory.
