McAninley Scores Lone Goal in Field Hockey's 2-1 Loss vs. Bucknell

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team fell to Bucknell, 2-1 at home Sunday afternoon at Johnson Field. Colleen McAninley scored the lone goal for the Pioneers, while Bridget Kelly notched a defensive save as well.

With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 1-8 on the season, while the Bison improve to 4-3 on the season with the win. SHU will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 27 when the Pioneers travel to take on Albany at 2 p.m.

The Scoring

Second Quarter 

  • (26:45): Maddie Rehack carried the ball up the field on a breakaway and shot it past the keeper to put Bucknell up 1-0

Third Quarter 

  • (35:50):Off the corner insert, Brittany Willwerth sent the pass to Marisa Morakis for the stop to set up Allie Christopher who fired home the goal to put Bucknell up 2-0

Fourth Quarter 

  • (55:15): Colleen McAninley picked up a loose ball in the circle and snuck it past the keeper for the goal

  • SHU registered three shots on goal compared to six for Bucknell
