FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University field hockey senior Bridget Kelly was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
In a 2-0 weekend for the Pioneers, Kelly totaled two assists and two defensive saves. In a 4-1 NEC-win over Bryant on Friday, Kelly tallied assists on the game-tying and go-ahead goals.
In the 3-2 win over Lehigh, Kelly registered two defensive saves. Her 13 defensive saves on the season is tops in the NEC and the nation. Kelly's 13 defensive saves leads all teams in the nation as well.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 26 when the Pioneers travel to take on LIU at 3 p.m.
