FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Sacred Heart University women's golf freshman Hana Bowman was named the NEC Women's Golfer of the week, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
The honor is the first of the season for Bowman after finishing in second at the SHU Spring Invite.
The freshman opened the final month of the regular season with a scoring average of 73.5 with a two-round score of 147. She finished second among 42 golfers at Great River Golf Club, fending off competitors from six other schools en route to a first-place team finish for the Pioneers.
She opened the event with a 77 in round one, which was the third-best score of the round. She closed the competition by shooting a 70 on day two for the best score of the day, rounding out play 3-over par.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, April 12, when SHU begins play in the NEC Championships.
