Women's Rowing Tabbed Ninth in MAAC Preseason Poll

EDISON, NJ – The Sacred Heart University women's rowing team was selected to finish it's 2019 season ninth according to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) coaches as announced by the office league Friday morning.

The Pioneers' were predicted to finish seventh last season and the prediction held true, as SHU concluded seventh at the MAAC Championships a year ago.

Last year, SHU raced to seventh at the 2018 MAAC championship earning 15 points for the performance. Jacksonville University claimed its fifth straight MAAC Championship with 53 points.

The Marist was voted first with 96 points and six first-place votes in the preseason poll, followed by Jacksonville University with 94 points and four first-place votes. Canisius College placed third in the poll with 76 points, followed by Drake University with 69 points. Robert Morris University came in fifth with 51 points, tailed closely by Fairfield University with 49. Manhattan College was awarded 43 points and Stetson University was voted in eighth with 35 points. Sacred Heart University (24 points) and Iona College (13 points) round out the poll.

The Pioneers roll out their season against Stetson on Mar. 8 in Deland, Florida.
