FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University Women's Soccer sophomore student Hannah Busch was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 Women's Soccer First Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Busch wins her first career CoSIDA Academic All-District honor and becomes the first player in program history to earn the distinctive academic honor. The announcement makes Busch immediately eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which will be voted on by the CoSIDA membership and announced on December 5.
Busch is enrolled at Sacred Heart as a student in the SHU's nursing program. During her time as an undergraduate, Busch compiled an impressive 4.00 cumulative grade-point average to achieve her degree in Nursing. Busch is just one of five district 1 members to have achieved a 4.0 GPA.
Busch is one of just 11 student-athletes named to the District 1 First Team which is comprised of NCAA Division I institutions in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and must be in at least their sophomore season. Once nominations are received, CoSIDA membership then vote on deserving candidates.
